Retratos – Mi Obra Personal

by Tali Tyrer

I am fascinated by the face, in painting it, I admire how a simple line or shadow can completely change the expression and be able to reflect what I want depending on my hand, mind, understanding, and patience.
My work focuses on portraiture, facial expressions that show us their character, their appearance, how the person is at a certain moment in their life. I do not just intend to capture the likeness of the individual, but also how I feel it. It is about a bond, a model-artist relationship, the perception I have of that person. I usually take photographs of people close to me, friends and family, they offer me a piece of their intimacy, I admire them.
The images I choose to paint align with how I feel at that moment and what I want to convey. The backgrounds and decorative elements are purely aesthetic, although the colors are linked to the person.
I am also interested in everyday elements, objects we use, as they appear in the following paintings; sunglasses, turban, cigarette, letters that resemble an advertising poster. These current elements place us in our time.

Formal elements:

Studied compositions

Two planes, face and background. Background, flat colors, dynamism. Contrasts. Space without perspective. Obsession with ornamentation, repetitions. Geometric-chromatic, linear or mass forms in different combinations. Repetitive modules. Execution of defined strokes precisely delineated. There is no randomness.
Use of acrylic paint to achieve impeccable, smooth, and uniform colors.
