The Digital World Will Never End Paintings
Yesterday we attended the Tate Modern in London and loved seeing the large number of people visiting the exhibitions and enjoying the paintings even living in a digital era where everyone wants to save time and money through their electronic devices and the internet.
Some were taking photos of the paintings with their mobiles and probably sharing them on social media, others to look at them more calmly later at home, on their sofas. We, owners of an online art gallery who perfectly understand the move from analog to digital, were discussing whether one day new digital formats and online channels could make art as we know and enjoy it today disappear.
We concluded that the digital world will never kill art, paintings, pictures, or sculptures. Nor will it be able to make creations in oil or acrylic on fabrics, canvases or boards disappear because it is that physical element, that creation and creativity, physical and real mixture of colors that gives it such high value, what makes them a collector's item, an object that will last for decades or centuries, perhaps even longer than many of those digital files.
The online world will only be a very useful tool for the art world, an extension and expansion of art to be promoted and exhibited to all art lovers in any corner of the world, but only a unique and original piece will be in the museum, in a gallery or on the wall of your home.
